Thanks for the further responses.
Has anyone served at the Service Department or at least been a circuit overseer who has dealt with these things?
is there anyone on the board with a large amount of experience with judicial matters or (preferably) with the service department of the society or perhaps even worked on the service department?
if so, i would appreciate the answers to at least some of the following questions:.
does the society ever take the initiative to remove elders, and if so, how do they do it?
Thanks for the further responses.

Thanks for all the responses to everyone who has done so.
Is there anyone here that actually participated in a troubleshooting 'mission'?

Thanks for all the responses, it's been helpful. So from what I see here, when serious problems arise, such as infighting among a body of elders, or covering up some sin, elders from neighboring congregations ("troubleshooters") are sent in, either temporarily or permanently, to try and fix the problem, perhaps by removing some or all of the elders, or even disbanding the congregation.
I suppose my question now is, What does it take on the Society's end to send in troubleshooters? Is there anyone here from the Service Department? Does it take one complaint, or multiple, or a pattern of complaints of the same type? Or all cases of "troubleshooting" initiated by the local CO?

pontoon: Thanks for the reply. If I may ask, what was the problem in the problem congregation?

Alfred: This isn't my congregation, it is some research for my own use. Research involves speaking to those with experience in the matter being discussed.
Wasanelder Once: Thanks for the answer. If I may ask, Why was the whole body removed? What kind of messes needed cleaning up?
metatron: Even if some elders commit immorality why would ALL of the elders be removed for the mess ups of a few?
Thanks for all the responses so far. I would also appreciate if posters state how much direct personal experience they have in this area, either participating in it or witnessing it, so I can distinguish what is more likely hearsay and what is more likely firsthand.

Does the Society ever take the initiative to remove elders, and if so, how do they do it? What prompts them to do so? Do you know of any examples? Have entire bodies of elders ever been removed? Is it true that the Society sends in "troubleshooters" to certain problem areas? Can anyone give examples of why they have done so? Are these troubleshooters Bethelites or local brothers? How long do they stay?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
as the board no doubt knows, there was some sort of rumor in the early 1980s going around amongst the witnesses that a smurf doll came to life in the kingdom hall, or that smurfs were demonic.. 2 questions:.
1. do any not remember any such rumors though they were witnesses at the time?.
2. of those who do, did all the witnesses believe them, or otherwise, what proportion rejected the rumor as nonsense?.
Thanks for all the responses so far. BTTT.

i am a former active poster here, former elder, former bethelite and pretty much known by people on the xjw boards since the mid 90's.
gawd that makes me sound old.. i notice that a great deal of uproar is being made by allegations of a hide in the closet alleged bethelite.
to counter the damage caused by this claim, i am happy to address any questions people may have about bethel, protocol, etc.. i was at the canada branch for 11 years, worked in multiple areas including the legal department, service desk and writing dept.
One Six Screens call (I wasn't listening, someone else said it) stated that Bethel has about 20 Bethelites assigned to monitor various sites and forums on the internet. Is that true? Just what DOES Bethel do about/with/to the internet and apostate sites and forums?
Also, you stated that you knew some things about covering-up child abuse. Would you care to elaborate?
i thought i would get the opinion of those on this forum about what is written in the following link:.
http://www.christianwitnesses.com/id347.html.
i don't mind who comments, but i am asking only those who served at bethel, preferably recently, what they think, from their own personal experience, about the claims raised in the link above, and perhaps other questions as well i might ask later, i'll see.. .
Personally I think Six Screens is like a tabloid, and they and their followers will swallow down anything negative about JWs, no matter how far-fetched. I never wasted 6 hours but I read some of JWN's comments. I bet 'Johnny' and 'Mary' are laughing their heads off right now, that Six Screens bought it. I'd say they are probably an embarrassment to ex-JWs.
